Two different levels of complexity

The TriggerPoint GRID 1.0 is a 13-inch manual roller with a textured EVA surface and hollow core. The Therabody WaveRoller is a 12-inch powered roller with five vibration settings, a listed 3.3 lb weight and a manufacturer-rated 180-minute battery life.

When the simple option makes sense

If your priority is owning one uncomplicated piece of equipment, start by considering a manual roller. You can leave it next to a mat and there is no battery to remember. Check the dimensions against your storage space, and decide whether you prefer a smooth or textured surface before choosing a model.

For someone who is not sure they will use a roller regularly, buying more features does not answer that question. Borrowing or trying a roller first gives you more useful information than another product comparison.

When to consider vibration

A vibrating model is a more specific purchase: you already like rolling and want that additional sensation. Try it in the kind of room where you expect to use it. Sound through the floor and how easily you can reach the controls matter, but we have not tested either here.

Before checkout

Compare current prices, return conditions and the complete package. Our view is to buy vibration only when it is a feature you actively want. A larger feature list does not by itself demonstrate better recovery.
